Day 24

Well I unclamps the baked neck. It was perfectly straight. I might do this trick from now on.

Filed the tops of the frets. Put two pcs of tape on the 16th and filed a slight slope from 17 to 22

Recrowned all the frets and rolled over the edges. Finally steel wool.

Cut head plate, cleaned slot and superglued nut. Then filed and sanded flush to FB.

Getting ready to glue in neck. Taped off areas so glue won't squeeze out onto wood.

Clamped.

Made sure non stained woods were sanded to 220 grit. Removed any marks on stained surfaces by lightly rubbing with scotchbrite. Wiped everything clean with two seperate dry cloths. One for color, one for raw wood.

Taped off the cavities and FB.

Two coats of shellac one hour apart on whole instrument. Gonna let dry overnight.  Spray can is 3lb cut. Kinda think. Next time I'll stick with mixing the Zissner sealer which is 2lb cut with denatured alcohol. 50%-50% will give a one lb cut. Then use the Preval sprayer.

I let it dry for 5 hours.
Then used maroon scotchbrite to knock down the dried shellac and get a uniform flat sheen. No sandpaper!!  Too aggressive.

Now I gotta find some Timbermate rosewood wood filler (water based)
